About Cru at Salisbury University

WHAT IS CRU AT SALISBURY UNIVERSITY?

A caring community passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ

We desire to have real, genuine relationships in order to fully live a life with and for God. Our staff and student leaders welcome others into spiritual journeys by being fully committed to coming alongside them to inspire growth wherever they are along the journey towards God.

Cru fosters relational environments of openness and vulnerability where you can ask tough questions and share hard things all while being surrounded by a group of people who love and support you, at all times.

OUR HISTORY

Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) is an interdenominational ministry committed to helping take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations. We cooperate with millions of Christians from churches of many denominations and hundreds of other Christian organizations around the world to help Christians grow in their faith and share the Gospel message with their others.

Working together with these fellow believers, our goal is to help give every man, woman, and child in the entire world an opportunity to find new life in Jesus Christ. Our commitment is based on our Lord’s command:

"All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20

While Cru at Salisbury University has been active for more than 30 years, it is part of a much larger organization.  Cru is an interdenominational Christian organization that was started in 1951 by Bill and Vonette Bright. It originally was a Christian outreach on the campus of UCLA.  Bill Bright’s premise was: “if you can impact university students, you can change the world.” As Cru began to grow, it eventually spread to other college campuses.

Cru is now active on most major college campuses in the US and overseas as well. It has also expanded beyond the college campus to include over 60 different ministries including Athletes in Action, Cru High School, the Military Ministry, Family Life, and Christian Embassy in Washington D.C. Cru can be found in 190 countries with over 27,000 full time staff and 225,000 trained volunteers.

The World Headquarters of Cru is located in Orlando, Florida and is the administrative home of all the ministries of the organization.  To find out more about Cru check out the global website: www.cru.org
